Robert Schnurr is the Executive Director of Commodities & Services. In this capacity he is responsible for developing and implementing the SMS commodity management strategy, as well as for overseeing the equipment and ancillary services programs. He assume this position in May, 2013 after serving as the Vice President of Procurement from April 2007, where he oversaw all food and packaging procurement. To this, he served as the Vice President of Distribution since he joined SMS in 2006
Robert has over 30 years of food service experience. Prior to joining Supply Management Services he was the Vice President of Procurement at Blimpie International inc. From 1984 to 2006 he served in various positions, including Operations Director, VP of Product Development and Assistant VP of Research and Development at Blimpie International. During this time he also served as an Officer on the Blimpie Board for over 6 years.
Prior to joining Blimpie International Robert was employed as a Chef at several New York City restaurants. From 1986 -1990 he was Executive Chef and General Manager for the Border Café restaurants in New York City.
Robert graduated the New York Restaurant School in 1984 with Honors. During his tenure at Blimpie International he received the Employee of the Year “Extra Slice “award in 1991, and was awarded the Chairman’s award for Excellence in 1997. Robert served as President of the Mid Queens Boys Club for 5 years while living in NY, providing 1,500 families in the area with recreational sports programs and a Teen Club center.
